Former congresswoman Candace Owens said in an interview she had a dream in which her husband, Frank Luntz, and her daughter, Jennifer, were married in a ceremony at a lake.
Owens, a Republican, had her husband arrested and later pleaded guilty to obstruction of justice in the case.
Luntz was sentenced to probation in 2006 and was given credit for time served.
In an interview with CNN, Owens said she was deeply touched by the news.
“I was surprised, but not surprised,” she said.
“I’m just so grateful that they had that ceremony.
They did the right thing.
I’m so glad to know that there’s another way to celebrate this, that’s for everybody to have that.”
Owons, a former deputy assistant secretary of the Navy for civil and military affairs, said her husband’s arrest had a profound impact on her.
“The moment he was arrested, he went from a really good man, a very good family man, to a bad man,” she recalled.
She said her marriage fell apart in 2009, and she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 2013.
Luntzz has not spoken publicly since he was sentenced, and Owens said that he had a hard time dealing with the news of his arrest.
He told Fox News last month he would not be commenting on the case, and it was not clear whether he had contacted the Justice Department to seek his release.
